Drawn on newsprint, and shaded with conte or charcoal at the back to trace.

Leaves leave me exhausted....I cut them by hand.

The pieces are bunched together here, but I ended up separating them into different set pieces (the forest and the field).

For the forest trees in the background, I glued the treetops onto the cardboard and stuck on brown papers for the trunk. Added to this are more cardboard at the back to stand it up.

This was th set-up for the scene of Bear walking through the forest. I only used the right side of the stage. The grass is layered cardstock, before I changed it to a different paper for the rest of the film.

The illusion is gone!

The set up wasn't very efficient...I only used the left part of the stage. The sky is glued to a backdrop of another production.

A total of 7 free-standing trees, plus 2 rows of background trees, 5 lights (7 in the campfire scene), and up to 11 puppets on set..........yeah.

This really shows how flat things are. You can see the blue filter I used on the left light.
